200gsm Photo SatinThe default · rich colour

A heavy photo paper with a soft satin sheen: halfway between gloss and matt. Colour goes deep, blacks stay black, and it doesn't throw glare back under shop lights. Takes full-bleed photos and heavy ink without cockling.

Best for: Photos, bold colour, anything framed or in a window
Hang it with: Pin, frame, Blu Tack, snap frame

120gsm UncoatedPlain paper · writes like paper

Bright white plain paper, no coating. Colour prints a little flatter, but you can write on it with a pen, pencil or marker. Built for plans, drawings, mood boards and the poster that gets scribbled on in a workshop.

Best for: CAD plans, drawings, workshops, pin-ups
Hang it with: Pin or tape: it's lighter, so not for snap frames outdoors

Need it rigid, waterproof or outside? Paper posters are for indoors and behind glass. For a board that stands up on its own, go to foamex and foam board (same A sizes). For outdoors, a PVC banner takes the weather.

Check 1 · resolution

Will my file be sharp?

Put in your image size in pixels. A phone photo is about 3000 × 4000. In Photoshop it's Image > Image Size; on a Mac, Get Info on the file.

Effective resolution at each size, either way round. Vector PDFs (type and shapes from InDesign, Illustrator, Affinity or Canva's PDF Print) are sharp at any size; this only matters for photos and flattened images.

Six things to get right on a poster.

One PDF, at size

Send a PDF set up at the poster size: A2 is 420 × 594mm. JPEG and PNG are fine for photos. One page per design; for two designs, place two orders, or email us and we'll split it.

Bleed and safe area

Run backgrounds 3mm past the edge on every side, so an A3 file is 303 × 426mm. Keep text and logos 10mm in from the trim. On A1 and A0 give it 15mm.

Resolution

Photos at 300dpi for A4 and A3. For A1 and A0, 150dpi at full size is plenty, because nobody reads an A0 from 30cm. Use the checker above. Screenshots and WhatsApp images will look soft.

Text size

Headlines need size, not weight. For a poster read from 5m, letters should be at least 40mm tall. Body text no smaller than 14pt on A3, 24pt on A1. Keep it short: three lines beats a paragraph.

Colour

CMYK is safest. RGB files print fine, but neon greens, electric blues and bright oranges come out a touch duller on any printer. Rich black is C40 M30 Y30 K100 for big black areas.

Canva and PowerPoint

Both work. In Canva, download as PDF Print with crop marks and bleed ticked. From PowerPoint, set the slide to your A size first, then save as PDF. A person checks every file before it prints.

Yes. Order by 3pm, Monday to Friday, and your posters are printed today. Collect free from 27 Tabard Street, SE1 4LA, have them couriered across London (arrives same day, £45), or DPD next working day anywhere in the UK from £6.99.

What sizes do you print?

A4 (210 × 297mm), A3 (297 × 420mm), A2 (420 × 594mm), A1 (594 × 841mm) and A0 (841 × 1189mm), portrait or landscape. For other sizes, like 50 × 70cm or 24 × 36in, email hello@rapidprintpro.com.

How big is A0 really?

841 × 1189mm: exactly one square metre, and nearly 1.2m tall. Stood on the floor it comes up to the shoulder of a 1.75m person. A1 is half that, A2 a quarter.

Which paper should I choose?

200gsm Photo Satin for nearly everything: rich colour, a soft sheen, no glare. 120gsm Uncoated for plans, drawings and posters people will write on. Same price.

Gloss or matt?

Photo satin sits between the two: it has the colour depth of gloss without the mirror glare, which is why it's the poster standard. There's no full gloss or full matt option on this product.

Will my image be sharp enough?

Use the resolution checker on this page. As a guide: 300dpi at A4 and A3, 150dpi at A1 and A0. A modern phone photo (about 12 megapixels) prints well to A2. If a file is too small, we'll tell you before we print.

Can you mount my poster on board?

Not on this product: these are paper posters. For a rigid board in the same A sizes, order foamex and foam board, which is printed direct and also goes the same day.

Can posters go outside?

Paper posters are for indoors or behind glass. Rain will ruin them. For outdoors, use a PVC banner or a correx or foamex board.

Will it fit a standard frame?

Yes. Our A sizes are printed to the exact A size, so they drop into any A4, A3, A2, A1 or A0 frame or snap frame. Want a white border for a mount? Add it to your artwork.

Do you print research and conference posters?

All the time, usually A0 or A1 on satin, often the day before someone flies. Export the PDF from PowerPoint at full size and upload it; we'll check the fonts and images before it prints.

No artwork. Can you design it?

Yes. Send the words, your logo and any photos to hello@rapidprintpro.com and we'll lay it out and send a proof before printing.

How do posters arrive?

A4 and A3 come flat-packed. A2, A1 and A0 are rolled and sent in a tube up to 100 copies; from 100 they're packed flat. Everything goes by DPD, or collect from SE1.

Are prices ex VAT?

Yes. Posters are standard-rated, so 20% VAT is added at checkout. The price box at the top shows both, plus the delivery you've picked.

Order before 3pm

When you'll have them.

Order by 3pm, Monday to Friday, and your posters are printed, trimmed and packed the same day. A2 and up go in a tube (flat-packed from 100 copies), A3 and A4 flat, all by DPD. The dates here are live: they follow the clock and skip weekends.
