What artwork file types can I upload?

You can upload PDF, JPEG or PNG. For best print quality we recommend a print-ready PDF exported at high quality — PDF/X-1a:2001 is ideal, but any format you have is fine and the artwork team will sort it.

What size should my business card artwork be?

Our standard business cards are 85mm × 55mm finished size. If you're adding bleed, supply your artwork at 91mm × 61mm — that's 85×55 plus 3mm bleed all the way round. Keep any text at least 3mm inside the 85×55mm trim edge.

What if I'm not sure my file is set up correctly?

Upload what you have and leave us a note. Our artwork team checks every single file before it goes to print, and we'll tell you if anything needs fixing before anything is printed.

Q: Do I need bleed on my business card artwork?

If your design has a background colour or image running right to the edge of the card, yes — add 3mm bleed on all sides. If your design has a white border and nothing touches the edge, bleed usually isn't needed. Either way it's not a dealbreaker: upload what you have and our artwork team will add bleed for you.

Q: Do I need crop marks?

Crop marks are not required, but they're welcome if they're placed correctly. If you include them, make sure they sit outside the bleed area rather than inside the finished size.

Business Card Sizes & Shapes

The ‘standard’ size for business cards is ‘credit card’ size, usually being about 85mm x 55mm, however, sizes aren’t carved in stone so your card can actually be any size you like. Also, you don’t necessarily have to limit yourself to a rectangular card with standard ‘square cut’ corners — shapes are also possible. Give us a nudge if you want to be a trend setter and mix it up.

You can have rounded corners on all, or just some, of the corners – in fact opposing corners with curves can look rather funky (see example on the bottom row, on the right).
You can get us to die-cut the business cards to a totally bespoke shape. These can be geometric, circular, square or lozenge-shaped cards or totally irregular shapes to follow the graphics or image printed, for those who want to be a little different.

Brown Kraft

Our Brown Kraft stock is 400gsm so super thick with a nice texture - best to keep to just black ink rather than using CMYK colours as these can be disorted as we are laying a CMYK colour over a brown surface. Blacks look true and punchy.

Recycled Coffee Cup Material

It is a dynamic combination of chemistry and artistry that takes disposable paper coffee cups destined for landfill and transforms them into beautiful paper. A slightly off white colour with a lovely texture, colours look punchy.

Seaweed Stock

Notpla Seaweed Paper is made from 30% seaweed and 60% post-consumer waste, offering a completely biodegradable and recyclable solution - The stock is a grey colour with flecks of greens and browns. Colours look great but for an aesthetically pleasing design stick with black only for a really punchy result.

Safe Area

Please ensure that any text is positioned at least 3mm away from the edges. While we strive for perfect cutting, there is always a small chance of movement. If you prefer a borderless background, extend it beyond the edge, but keep all important content 3mm away from the edges.

Resolution

Supplying high-resolution artwork guarantees sharp, clear prints with optimal detail and color accuracy. Images from WhatsApp, for example, won't produce crisp prints, so always export from Canva at 300dpi. Whenever possible, use original images instead of screenshots. Don't worry if you make a mistake—our artwork team will be your safety net and will catch anything that may need adjustment.

Make it Bleed

If you're lucky enough to have the Adobe package, set your bleed to 3mm in the document settings. This allows your artwork (such as backgrounds) to extend beyond the finished size into the bleed area. This way, any slight movement during cutting will be hidden, ensuring no white borders around the edges.

If you don’t have a design package, no worries! Simply make your artwork canvas 3mm larger on all sides. For example, if you're designing a business card that will be trimmed to 85mm x 55mm, your background should extend to 91mm x 61mm. Just remember, any text should be at least 3mm away from the 85mm x 55mm edge!

Transparency

Printing digital artworks can come with one little issue—transparency. While it might not be visible on screen, it has a huge impact when it comes to printing. So, make sure to flatten any transparency before exporting.

Resolution

Roller Banner

Roller banner artwork should be supplied at the product size, e.g., for a standard 80cm roller banner, artwork should be provided at 800mm x 2000mm with a 3mm bleed on all sides, if possible.

Our artwork team will then add an extra 150mm section below your design, which will be hidden inside the roller banner mechanism. This section helps attach the display to the pull-up banner.

Please, there’s no need to include this extra section in your artwork when submitting.
